The Wirtschaftliche Forschungsgesellschaft mbH (WiFo) was a front company founded by the Ministry of Economics in Berlin in 1934, which was responsible for the procurement, storage and manufacture of raw materials essential to the war effort and thus to ensure the logistics of the Wehrmacht.
Her main task was the construction of secret large tank farms, and she was also responsible for the operation of mineral oil tank wagons, tankers, the expansion of transport routes and the operation of plants for the production of chemical raw materials such as nitric acid.
