On October 5, 1942, in recognition of his high merits for the development of weapons and armor of the German Reich, he was awarded with the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross with swords.

In the Soviet Union, he was on 25 June 1950 by a military tribunal for war crimes to a 25-year prison sentence.
