Pencil signature of Colonel FRITZ LINDEMANN (Knight's Cross 4.9.1941, German Cross in Gold 23.8.1942).

At least since 1944, Lindemann actively participated in the preparations for the assassination attempt on Hitler and must therefore be counted among the closest circle of conspirators. For the time after the planned overthrow, he was scheduled as a spokesman for a new government.

After the failure of the assassination Lindemann first drowned in Dresden. With the help of Hans Ludwig Sierks and Carl Adolf Marks he was sent to Berlin to Erich Gloeden.

On August 4, 1944 Lindemann was dishonored because of his involvement in the failed assassination attempt on Hitler by the two days previously formed court of honor from the Wehrmacht, so that the Reichskriegsgericht was no longer responsible for the conviction. An intensive manhunt after him was taken, the authorities issued for his capture a reward of 500,000 marks.

Lindemann betrayed and tracked down by the secret state police on September 3 in the House of Gloeden. When he tried to jump out of the window, he was seriously injured by shots in the stomach and lower leg. Fritz Lindemann died as a result of these injuries after several operations - and constant interrogation - in the Berlin police hospital.
