Dr. Karl Stumpff was the head of the Institute for Period Research in Berlin.
In 1942 he became associate professor for astronomy at the University of Graz and director of the Graz University Observatory. There he turned to the investigations into celestial mechanics that had already begun in Breslau, for which he is best known.
